OVERVIEW:
This pergola installation was for a brand-new home construction in Westminster, Colorado, and featured an outdoor patio adjacent to where a new swimming pool was under construction. The home was designed and constructed by a well-known home builder who specifically requested StruXure of the Rockies for the pergola installation. Custom Homes by Dana is recognized in the gated community neighborhood for building high-end homes, working mainly by referral, and scoped our pergola system into their design. The home builder is renowned for exquisite and modern architecture and for incorporating well-appointed outdoor spaces into their design.
Access to the patio from two sets of large sliding patio doors would allow the family to enjoy the outdoor area under a poolside pergola to enjoy the kids in the pool while having protection from the intense Colorado sun.
Project Details
CHALLENGE:
The steel frames were already in place as part of the architectural design for an accent to the patio area. We worked directly with the home builder to inlay the pergola frame into the steel frame and incorporated specialized gutter systems inside the steel columns. We installed the pergola directly to the wall and out to the steel beams for seamless integration and beautiful aesthetics. The pergola frame featured two 12’ x 12’ systems together to cover an area 12 ft. out and 24 ft. wide, separated by one steel beam in the middle.
The existing steel frame was a very square area, making it simple to slip the pergola frame within and flash along the top to create a continuous protected area, sealed tight, where no weather can get in from the top or the sides.
SOLUTION:
Pivot 6
The patio area covered with the pergola was adjacent to additional outdoor space with a seating area under a beautiful upper deck. The 12’ x 24’ pergola is attached directly to the upper deck and the back wall leading to the patio with a smooth integration and perfectly matching black color. StruXure of the Rockies’s Pivot 6 features adjustable louvers, and this pergola incorporates all the extra features, including heaters, lights, and fans.
We also installed screens on the front for added protection against the elements, allowing the family to enjoy the outdoor space as an added outdoor room adjacent to the pool.
RESULTS:
With heaters and screens, the area became an outdoor room the homeowners could enjoy with nice furniture, a comfortable sofa, an outdoor grilling area, a refrigerator, and a kitchen. This provided an added room for entertainment, protected from the elements while keeping a close eye on the kids in the pool.
