This log home in Littleton, Colorado, sits at the edge of a very large mountain valley at approximately 8,000 feet elevation. The homeowner is a fellow contractor who operates a remodeling business, giving him insight into knowing exactly what he wants and a good recognition for quality work. The home was a new construction, and an outdoor deck with a beautiful view of the mountains was underway. Adding a permanent pergola to the newly built outer deck would provide usable outdoor space for grilling, entertaining, and relaxing.

CHALLENGE:
A home located in the mountains adds a layer of complexity to any type of home remodel or add-on. This beautiful new log home was no different and required added considerations due to the mountainous, high-altitude location. Fortunately, we were able to consult on the project during the deck build and advised on the best way to receive the pergola footings, which had to be increased in size. This was necessary to handle the added support, which had to be doubled to stand up to the high winds and heavy snow loads common in the mountains.
SOLUTION:
The Pivot 6 is a homeowner’s favorite, and with added support, it can adequately handle high winds and snow, which is an important consideration for mountain installations. StruXure of the Rockies installed a 2-zone pergola with a roof-mounted system, one side was attached to the roof overhang. The two 10 x 16 zones provided a full 20’ wide louvered roof pergola to cover an outdoor kitchen and seating area.
The Pivot 6 in sturdy aluminum was installed in black to perfectly match the black railings around the 2nd story deck. The pergola posts were integrated right into the railings for a seamless look. The architectural grade powder coating provides a long-lasting, beautiful finish for this forever pergola in Littleton, with resistance to heavy snow, ice, and hail and very little maintenance. The patented, integrated pass-through gutter system provides superior drainage of rainwater.
Every Pivot 6 comes with a remote control and adjustable louvers for perfect adjustment of sun exposure.
