Residential Pergola
Castle Rock, 80108

OVERVIEW:
Located in Castle Rock, CO, between Denver and Colorado Springs, this home belonged to a doctor and his wife who loved entertaining and watching football outdoors. Their vision was to create a luxurious, covered outdoor space that would allow them to host guests comfortably throughout the year. However, the existing structure was deteriorating and needed to be replaced. StruXure of the Rockies was brought in to design and install a custom pergola system that would enhance their outdoor living experience while integrating seamlessly with the home’s architecture.
Project Details
CHALLENGE:
The existing wooden patio cover was rotted and dilapidated, requiring full removal before construction could begin. StruXure of the Rockies performed the demo and removal of all materials. The homeowners wanted the new pergola to wrap around their home, integrating with a poured concrete deck that featured large stone columns. The design required custom work to ensure the pergola connected to the far column with a wrap-around corner while maintaining a cohesive and polished aesthetic.
Creating a corner that jogged over to meet the farthest column added complexity. The integration of the stone columns required precise engineering. Since these columns were hollow, StruXure of the Rockies removed the top cap, filled them with concrete, and installed footings above ground to properly mount the pergola posts. The goal was to end the posts at the top of the patio column for a seamless look while ensuring the structure remained secure.

SOLUTION:
StruXure of the Rockies installed a Pivot 6 pergola, a high-performance louvered system designed to withstand extreme weather conditions while offering precise control over sunlight and shade. This installation featured two zones and shades, providing flexibility in the patio’s different areas. The bronze finish of the pergola matched the home’s exterior, blending perfectly with the stucco and stone accents.
To create a watertight connection between the pergola and the home, StruXure of the Rockies integrated flashing on the stucco and ensured the patented gutter system properly diverted rainwater away from the structure. The gutters extended along the side, directing water away while maintaining a sleek appearance.
The pergola was equipped with a motorized shade, built-in heaters, integrated lighting, and a remote-controlled louver system to enhance comfort. The Pivot 6 pergola system comes with the option of automatic wind and rain sensors for effortless adjustment in changing weather conditions.
Since the home’s electrical source was located on the other side of a finished basement, running power required careful planning and expert execution. StruXure of the Rockies coordinated with the electrician to ensure the heaters were properly and safely powered, allowing the homeowners to enjoy a warm, inviting outdoor space even in the colder months.
RESULTS:
The installation was completed in just a few days, including demolition and haul-away of the old structure, custom design adjustments, and final installation. The homeowners were thrilled with the transformation and wasted no time enjoying their new space. They hosted a Super Bowl party on their patio in January, comfortably watching the game outdoors with heaters keeping the space warm.
BENEFITS:
The new pergola has significantly enhanced the homeowners’ ability to entertain outdoors year-round. By replacing the deteriorating wooden structure with a durable, weather-resistant aluminum pergola, they now have a low-maintenance, long-lasting solution that provides both function and style.
The Pivot 6’s adjustable louvers can control sun exposure throughout the day, whether they want full shade during the summer or partial sunlight in the cooler months. The addition of heaters has extended the usability of their outdoor space well into the winter, making their patio a favorite gathering spot for friends and family.
StruXure of the Rockies’s ability to customize pergola installations to meet both aesthetic and functional needs has once again delivered a premium outdoor living experience. “Our south facing patio was too hot to use in the Denver summers, so we chose StruXure to install a louvered pergola. And oh, how we love it! Structure came out right away to give us a detailed estimate. They stayed true to their estimated timeline from order to install. The unit looks beautiful and like it was part of the original house and not just an afterthought. Our patio has now become an additional room on our house that we can enjoy in the heat of the summer, when it rains, and all year around. The install team was professional, efficient and clean and worked with us to make sure everything was done to our liking. We have already recommended StruXure to our friends and neighbors, who all now want one too.”
“We live in Castle Rock and have a west facing patio that for years was practically unusable between 12-7pm due to intense Colorado sun. We found Denver Pergola Systems and were immediately impressed by the Arcadia/StruXure louvered pergola system - adjustable to allow for sun or shade. Bob Monzel and his team were very quick to provide solutions and were very helpful in creating a custom patio cover for our space. Their creativity/ingenuity was proven when considering some challenging space constraints and a large picture window to work around. We could not be happier with their product, service, attention to detail, and professionalism. We highly recommend their team and their product. It is a wonderful addition to our home. Thank you Denver Pergola Systems!”
“We wanted a durable 20×12 ft. pergola that was low maintenance, waterproof, had the ability to add a screen, and provide sunlight on demand onto our patio and into our windows. Denver Pergola was extremely professional, timely, responsive, and best of all built a one-of-a-kind pergola for us to enjoy for decades to come. Bob and his team got the install finished in a single day. The end result is a pergola that can withstand anything nature throws at it. I would highly recommend a Struxure pergola over traditional pergolas or patio covers, you won’t be disappointed.”
