Located in a high-end area where homeowners seamlessly integrate their homes and yards with the natural surroundings, this property boasts a stunning view of the Garden of Gods rock formations behind the house.
The project aimed to create a space that facilitated an easy transition from the hot tub to a seating area, harmonizing with the existing décor of the walkway and deck leading to the hot tub. Although the homeowner independently contacted StruXure of the Rockies for this project, we collaborated closely with their designer, Designs by Sundown, to ensure a cohesive design focused on inviting nature’s beauty into their outdoor space.

CHALLENGE:
Given the high wind conditions in the area, the project required significant structural considerations. Major spread footers were installed to accommodate the wind load, and a wind sensor (anemometer) was a feature integrated into the pergola’s design. This sensor detects wind intensity and adjusts the louvers accordingly, opening them slightly to allow wind to flow through and reduce the updraft force on the structure, thereby protecting it. This functionality overrides other sensors, such as rain sensors, ensuring the pergola remains secure under high wind conditions.
SOLUTION:

StruXure of the Rockies installed the Pivot 6 pergola known for its innovative adjustable louvered roof design and durability. The pergola was built to fit the designed seating space with posts integrated into the surrounding brick walls for additional wind protection. The 2-zone pergola in black with black louvers, featured wind sensors and lights to enhance the pergola’s functionality and comfort. The integrated patented gutter system helps to maintain a clean and dry outdoor area under a beautifully designed pergola.
The entire project involved transforming a raw piece of ground into a spectacular outdoor space, including a deck, boardwalk, seating area, hot tub, and fireplace, all integrated seamlessly with the existing hot tub area. The thoughtful design ensured a perfect flow and aesthetic harmony with the existing elements of the property.
