This Hilltop homeowner had completely remodeled a beautiful estate in this family-oriented Denver suburb neighborhood. They wanted to add an outdoor area where their family and neighborhood friends could relax outside by the newly installed swimming pool. Being avid swimmers, this space would be used frequently.
They wanted an area topped off with a stylish pergola that allowed sunlight to flow through as an existing partial patio roof cast a dark shadow on the only covered outdoor space. The home improvements reflected luxurious comfort with inviting décor, and they wished to take this same theme outside while enjoying the pool.
Project Details
CHALLENGE:
The large concrete patio featured three wide steps leading down to the pool that had a special finish called exposed aggregate and was also heated. The concrete could not be penetrated to mount two of the three pergola columns because the concrete had tubes running through it as part of the heating system.
This large three-zone pergola had to be installed as an extension of the ranch home and mounted to the soffit and roof without using columns on the side of the house.
SOLUTION:
StruXure of the Rockies reconstructed the soffit to attach the 3-zone Pivot 6 pergola directly to the soffit in three zones for the continuity of the covered patio. The roofline flows right into the pergola in straight lines. We utilized a special epoxy to adhere two of the three columns to the concrete on the first step, which allowed for a sturdy installation while maintaining an aesthetic, spacious flow.
Three zones covered this 28’ x 13 area with two fans, two heaters, and lighting to complement a comfortable seating area, a dining table and chairs, and two large sofas for lounging. The classy bronze color matched perfectly to the home, and the sturdy 6” x 6” beams in powder-coated aluminum will last a lifetime. The standard internal gutter system automatically diverts rain away from the structure to protect and maintain the beauty of the outdoor living area.
RESULTS:
Installing the Pivot 6 pergola in this Hilltop home added the much-needed luxurious outdoor setting to go along with the beautiful backyard pool and furniture. The sunlight streaming through the space really sets it off, and adjustable louvers precisely control the natural lighting by remote for convenience and comfort. Rain sensors ensure that the louvers will close in case of rainfall to protect the beautiful furniture below, and the durable, louvered roof supports high wind and snow loads with ease.
