StruXure of the Rockies collaborated with premier landscapers, Lifescape, to undertake a comprehensive redesign and refresh of this residential backyard located in a suburb south of Denver. The project aimed to transform the outdoor space into a beautifully landscaped area with several new elements.
The centerpiece of this transformation was the installation of a pergola on a new tiled patio to provide a shaded, comfortable space for the family and their elderly parents. The pergola was integrated with concrete elements, a fire pit, water features, and planters, creating an inviting and functional outdoor environment. An elderly parent lived with the family and loved to sit outside but found the intense Colorado sun too overwhelming. The pergola was designed to provide a shaded, comfortable outdoor space, allowing the elderly parents and the rest of the family to enjoy the outdoors for reading, napping, and relaxation without the discomfort of direct sunlight.

CHALLENGE:
The family home was built in the 90s and presented unique challenges for the pergola installation. The design necessitated height adjustments to ensure the pergola would function optimally. Achieving the desired height required mounting the pergola to the garage roof.
Structural and installation considerations were critical to the success of the project. Ensuring the stability of the pergola while maintaining the required height was paramount. The pergola needed to be securely anchored to the garage roof without compromising any structural integrity. It also had to blend seamlessly with the existing architecture and the newly redesigned landscape by Lifescape. SOLUTION:
StruXure of the Rockies installed the Pivot 6 pergola, known for its innovative louvered roof design that adapts to changing weather conditions at the push of a button. The pergola’s fully extruded aluminum design and stainless-steel fasteners ensure durability and resistance to hurricane-force winds, heavy snow loads, and harsh environmental conditions. The internal patented gutter system diverts rainwater away from the patio to maintain a clean and dry environment.
The pergola was customized to fit the family’s needs, featuring a large 2-zone structure with heaters, fans, and lights to extend usability throughout the year. The color scheme of a black structure with white louvers complemented the home’s aesthetic, while a two-step cornice design ensured a cohesive look with the existing architecture.
